Famous Dutch encyclopedic dictionary for family-use, especially in country- houses, with answers to all questions arising in dispute or in practice. The second enlarged Dutch edition. It contains ca. almost 9000 p. more than the first edition (in 2 vols.) and also 73 more plates. The so called " Grote Chomel ". ( = "Large ChomeL" ) One of the most famous Rangaku Books and an important source for the history of science and medicine in Japan. Complete copies of the "Grote Chomel " with the continuation by de Chalmot and all the 153 (and not 152 as often mentioned) engraved, folding plates are getting very scarce. 1 fine engraved frontisp.
